Forums - they have a purpose.

Tonight when trying to post an ad for Disney Vacation Points for rent on the Disboard I was told that I no longer can place an ad unless i post at least 50 other posts not related to renting points. I have been a member of that board since 2001.
Now it is great that Disney fans like to discuss their DH DD DS and all the rest, for those that don't follow the Disboard lingo that's Disney husband, Disney daughter, Disney son. But is it necessary for me to bore people with 50 posts just because I want to use the board as I have done for years?
This started me thinking. There are thousands of forums out there with many different purposes. I have found that forums become too large and too confusing when they try to incorporate too many offshoots on that board.
If a board is for resolving technical issues then does it need a section for someone's oatmeal cookie recipes? Keep it simple and forums will never go out of style.
