I was told a story when I was very young but remember it and live by the lesson it taught still.
The story told of two groups of people sitting at a long dining table. All the people had large spoons tied to their arms keeping them from being able to bend their elbows and feed themselves. At one table the people ended up starving even though the table was full of wonderful food, because they only wanted to feed themselves and would not help anyone else. At the other table each person fed the person across from them and all ate well.
The moral of the story? If you help others succeed you will also succeed. Help yourself by helping others.

Awesome philosphy to live by. Not only is that so true, but on top of that you get the greatest feeling in the world. Everyone must remember, that no matter how low you may feel, there is always someone worse off. Take the time to help someone even a perfect stranger and in your deepest problems someone will be there for you.
